Beacon’s Beach
Tucked away in Leucadia, Beacon’s has the feeling of a locals’ beach, unlikely to be happened upon by accident. Visitors to the beautiful bit of shoreline park on the bluffs above and walk down to the beach. It is a bit of a hike but worth the effort for the peaceful, secluded feeling on the shore. California Surf Museum
From gorgeous wahines to colorful longboards, Southern California has long been identified with the image of a surfer catching the giant wave and riding it into shore. Flower Fields
Blanketing the hills above the Pacific Ocean in North County, The Flower Fields of Carlsbad are a showstopper, even for those who have come to wait patiently for the first blossoms each spring. From early March to the end of April, huge varicolored bands of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers burst into color, stretching for almost a mile along the rolling fields, nearly bringing freeway traffic to a halt.
